artin and Emma met at work 4 ½ years ago. They had always got on well and after exchanging telephone numbers by e-mail agreed to meet up for their first date for a walk along Ramsey beach. The date went well and things between them then progressed quickly with Martin moving in with Emma in Ramsey a couple of months later. They both realised early on in their relationship that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.
A few days before Valentine’s Day last year Martin took Emma to the Lake District for the weekend. On Valentine’s Day morning he asked her what she would like to do for the day and she suggested a small boat trip around Lake Windermere. It was a cold day and it turned out that they were the only people on the top deck of the boat! Emma told me she was busy taking pictures but it seemed as though Martin wasn’t really enjoying himself (she realises now that he was just extremely nervous!). Emma carried on taking pictures and giving Martin a running commentary of the scenery without thinking any more of it. She turned around quickly to see if Martin was ok and he was on his knee holding a photo of a ring (it had been ordered from the USA and had been held up by customs!!!) and he asked her to marry him. She instantly accepted!
In May 2010 they bought a house together and moved in with their furry family, two dogs and three cats! Their wedding day is planned for the 11th August 2012 and they are both very excited and this time Martin will most definitely have the ring on the day!
They have been through good times and bad over the last few years and each experience has only made their relationship stronger. They have always been each others greatest supporters and Emma told me she can’t wait to marry Martin and start the next chapter of their lives together…
